- Open enrollment: Nov 1 – Dec 15
- Special enrollment: outside of open enrollment you can only sign up for health insurance if you have had a life qualifying event within the last 60 days. Some examples include

- Change in residence – moved from a different state or county with different health insurance providers

- Premium – the amount you pay for your health insurance monthly
- Deductible – the amount you have to pay for health care before your health insurance starts to pay
- Co-payment – flat dollar amount you will pay for certain health services
- Maximum Out of Pocket Costs – The maximum amount you will pay for covered service in a benefit duration (usually a year). This does not include your premiums, services not covered and a few others.
- Coinsurance – is a percentage you are required to pay
